VMware held its flagship US-based event, VMworld 2017, this week in Las Vegas. VeloCloud was a sponsor, with a booth located in the exhibition hall. The event attracted over 20,000 attendees, all interested in learning more about VMware’s new releases and vision for the future.
VMware and VeloCloud are long-time technology partners and recently VMware joined VeloCloud’s security partner ecosystem, as announced earlier this week.
Here are a few of VeloCloud’s highlights from VMworld.
During the VMworld keynote presentation, CEO of VMware, Patrick Gelsinger, shared VMware’s vision for shifting all users from the private cloud to the public cloud, regardless of access devices or infrastructure. His vision also extends into support for Internet of Things (IoT) and corporate branches.
VMware’s vision for the market and moving to a cloud-centric approach is synergistic with VeloCloud’s cloud-delivered approach. Together with AWS, VMware’s NSXaaS, and VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN, customers benefit from a complete solution.
Full VMware Cloud Support
With VMware’s announcement of availability on AWS, VeloCloud now supports the entire gamut of VMware’s cloud offering both in public and private clouds. VeloCloud has already been an integral part of the AWS community with the ability to spin VeloCloud Edge instances on AWS. This is ideal for customers who are migrating their data centers to the public cloud, or extending branches in the public cloud.
VeloCloud also complements VMware’s Cross Cloud initiative giving customers cloud choice, a unified platform for ease of management, ability to migrate applications easily between public and private clouds, and leveraging NSX as-a-service.
VeloCloud’s interoperability with VMware enables simplified deployment, regardless of mode of deployment chosen. Whether the delivery mode of VeloCloud Edges is hardware or virtual on VMware ESXi, deployment is automated and is works seamlessly out of the box.
Using zero touch provisioning and management via the NSX manager, enterprise grade turn-key solutions can be deployed quickly at scale, with simplified management delivered via VeloCloud Orchestrators.
There’s Still Education Needed for SD-WAN
While on the VMworld exhibit floor, our team had many interesting conversations with customers, prospective customers, partners, and service providers who are considering SD-WAN and interested in learning more about optimizing their cloud access and increasing reliability. as well as remote datacenter backup to the cloud. This indicates that while SD-WAN is a maturing technology, the results that it is reaping for many users is causing it to gain in interest amongst those that have not adopted it.
