The debate over Net Neutrality has been raging for years. There are many facets to it. To recap the essence of the debate, Wikipedia defines Net Neutrality as “the principle that all Internet traffic should be treated equally.” One of the fundamental issues being debated is that of giving preferential—or discriminatory, depending on your viewpoint—treatment of traffic with certain attributes, such as protocol, content, application. The fear is that non-neutrality will discriminate against the average Joe and favor behemoth companies with deep pockets and long arms. This is all vaguely disingenuous, because traffic in the Internet, or any other communications…

Nine of the biggest trends for the SD-WAN market for 2016 are:  The net neutrality debate doesn’t go away and, it won’t matter – The net neutrality fight was all over the news in 2015. 2016 won’t be any different. If you don’t know, the net neutrality fight is about whether companies or customers will be granted a faster lane for bandwidth hungry web-based services and applications. Until SD-WAN (a network overlay technology) showed up on the scene companies had two choices; buy a fast private line, or risk unacceptable performance using public broadband. Now with SD-WAN they can get…

The use of unified communications (UC) applications is surging at the enterprise level. According to Infonetics, for instance, the UC market — along with VoIP — will reach $88 billion by 2018. What’s driving the growth of UC in enterprises? As explained in our recent webinar, businesses are turning to UC solutions to increase end user productivity and enhance business processes, which, according to Gartner*, are the goals of unified communications. Video, voice, unified messaging, web conferencing, and real-time collaboration applications are among the common UC tools used in the enterprise. Although UC deployment is becoming increasingly ubiquitous, a number…

I had the good fortune of attending Cisco Live last week. VeloCloud SD-WAN cloud networking technology works nicely with the Cisco IWAN (Intelligent WAN) solution. The reason we were invited to Cisco Live was to demonstrate what our cloud-delivered SD-WAN technology could do. Turns out VeloCloud makes Cisco IWAN an even more powerful solution by creating significant bandwidth across one or more links. A single link gets noticeable improvement and with two or more links you start to get exponential improvement in bandwidth and quality. In fact, the VeloCloud Edge software ran as a virtual instance on the router itself…
