The VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered SD-WANTM architecture originated in the cloud and is built on Software Defined Networking (SDN) principles.

VeloCloud is the only SD-WAN solution delivered in the cloud with a separate orchestration plane, control plane and data plane using a secure and scalable cloud network. Cloud-based service delivery, orchestration and analytics create a flexible architecture designed to address the demands experienced by enterprise IT today with the agility to meet unforeseen future requirements.

VeloCloud’s Cloud SD-WAN Service includes the following components:

Secure Network Overlay

VeloCloud SD-WAN’s separate control plane and data plane layers increase network service agility as intelligence is moved from the data plane into the programmable control plane. The VeloCloud architecture is transport independent, operates across any combination of public or private circuits, and enables secure connectivity to enterprise data centers, cloud compute and SaaS applications.

Scalable, Secure Cloud Network

VeloCloud SD-WAN uses standard based encryption, such as AES, to provide secure connectivity over any type of transport, to form a secure cloud network. VeloCloud SD-WAN devices are authenticated to the SD-WAN management plane, assigned business policies and then granted access to the secure cloud network.

Virtual Service Delivery

A rich set of services, including those from VeloCloud ecosystem partners, are easily deployed from a catalog of applications. Based on the type of service, these services are delivered at the branch, in the private data center or in the cloud. Service providers can leverage the VeloCloud architecture to deliver managed CPE offerings with dynamic services called network functions or services virtualization.

Orchestration & Analytics

The orchestration layer provides the control plane for forwarding traffic to and from on-premise and cloud nodes, flexibly across the multiple underlying transports and with the policy‐driven insertion of distributed network services. This orchestration layer is failsafe, highly resilient and simplifies end user deployments — meaning no IT administrator-dependent branch office installation is required.
